Only if you want some or all characteristics of enterprise computing should you use EJB. Many cases in current market environment only need jsp/servlet+bean to fulfill the clients' requirement. Pay more of your attention on design issues like patterns, models will be the suitable way for development. Do not pursue those advenced technologies.

JB+WEBLOGIC+ORACLE

偶目前用的和楼主差不多，只不过………………
JBoss3.0.2有了自己的http server和jsp/servlet parser，不用集成tomcat了。

开发环境jb7+JBoss3.0.2+MySQL

比较以前使用过的websphere 4.0 se来说，jboss系统开销小。更重要的是，jboss对ejb，web applicaiton等等支持动态部署（即无需restart applicaiton server就可以完成更新），这对需要不断更改代码并部署测试的developer来说，是很好的一个功能。

就http server和jsp/servlet来说，jboss对web applicaiton的更新的敏感度比tomcat 4好（个人感觉）。对jsp页面的更改能够立即被识别，不像tomcat有时候需要删除临时工作目录。

另外，jboss是免费的，性能不错，对最终用户有吸引力。

缺点，没有图形化的admin，weblogic和websphere的web－based admin系统很漂亮。jboss在添加service（典型的如database connection pool，即datasource）的时候，需要拷贝、修改jboss的service template 文档（XML 文档）到server的deploy目录下。另外，作为一个免费的applicaiton server，居然没有免费的admin文档，需要购买他们的手册和书籍。

总结，jboss不是最好的j2ee application server，不过给我这样的新手用很不错啊。

现在用MVC2 Struts的确很不错，JSP 的 tag开发很不错，websphere不错，eclipse jb good

IDE:

JBuilder, too strong for web development. But the EJB designer seems interesting.

Oracle JDeveloper, something like VS.net, integrated tightly with Oracle DB and the well done framework BC4J.

IntelliJ, agile yet powerful ide especially for J2SE, also support JSP development. Be suggested to used in coding phase.

Together ControlCenter, best modelling tool for Java in my eye. Pattern modelling and EJB modelling are two features beyond other competitors. Be suggested to used in design phase. 512M RAM required.

App Server:

Tomcat, RI of JSP/Servlet by SUN, wonderful development environment. Must NOT be used in production.

WebLogic, best product in most aspects as j2ee app svr. If its price can cut off to 10%, the whole market will be red.

WebSphere, big advertiser, not easy to use.

Oracle 9iAS/Orion, good.

DB Server:

Oracle, big monster.

SQL Server, support jdbc up to 2.0 extension - that's enough. Cheap alternative for J2EE environment.

DB2, IBM's toy, full of acedemic aspects, not like.

真巧我的开发环境也是jb5+weblogic6 +oracle6-----------就是版本低了些
不过都是正版的
